Some people find it difficult to set up their own alarm system. That's why, on this page, we tell you exactly which products you need, and which detectors are suitable for which locations.

You can also add products directly to your shopping cart at any stage. At the end of this page, your system is complete and you can proceed to purchase if you wish. We're sure you haven't forgotten anything to fully secure your own home or business.

Let's get started...

The basis of the alarm system is the control center, called the AJAX Hub.
The Hub is available in 4 different versions, but we recommend only 3, as Hub 1 Plus offers no added value now that Hub 2 Plus is also available.

So you always need one of these three centers to start the system.

Now we'll tell you the overall differences between these Hubs, so you'll know which one to choose:

Hub 1: Suitable for 100 detectors without integrated camera
Hub 2: Suitable for 100 detectors, with integrated camera
Hub 2 Plus: Suitable for 200 detectors, with integrated camera

By camera, we mean the photo camera in detectors such as the AJAX MotionCAM. We're not talking about the individual cameras you'll find on our security cameras page. Separate cameras can be connected to any hub. By the way, you shouldn't imagine too many links, as this means that you can only view the camera images in the AJAX application and not just in the camera manufacturer's application. The added value is therefore very limited.

Connection to the Internet is via an ethernet connection to your router or a SIM card with data.
When connected via Ethernet, backup via SIM card is also possible. Concentrators 1 and 2 support 2G networks only, while concentrator 2 Plus supports 2G, 3G and 4G networks. KPN offers support for 2G networks in the Netherlands until at least 2025. But don't forget: the SIM card is not compulsory, and only serves as a back-up channel if your fixed-line internet at home goes offline.

The final important difference is the number of scenarios you can define. This figure is just 5 for Hub 1, 32 for Hub 2 and 64 for Hub 2 Plus.

An example of a scenario is the automatic shutdown of an alarm or zone at a certain time of day. If, for example, you wish to switch off the alarm clock automatically at 7.30 a.m. every day, that's one scenario; switching it on at a certain time is another.

So far, the biggest differences between the Hubs.

Now choose the Hub that suits you best, and add it to your basket by clicking on "add". Don't forget to select the desired color.

Now that we've chosen the right Hub, it's time to decide how we want to disperse the burglar. By default, a burglary report is made on your cell phone, but this doesn't allow you to chase the burglar away when you're not at home. By the way, the whole family can receive a notification if you wish.

Burglars are hunted by attracting the attention of those around them, and this is best done with light and, above all, sound. That's why AJAX offers 2 different sirens, the HomeSiren for indoors and the StreetSiren, which can be mounted both indoors and outdoors.

Volume is adjustable in 3 positions for both, with the maximum volume for the indoor siren being 105db, and 113db for the outdoor siren.

Now choose the mermaid that suits you best, and add it to your basket by clicking on "add". Don't forget to select the desired color and number. Choose an indoor siren, or an indoor and an outdoor siren. Some people like the noise in case of burglary, and also place a StreetSiren inside the house. The choice is yours.

After choosing the siren, we determine how you want to operate the alarm system.
There are three options for activating and deactivating the alarm system:
- With your own smartphone from anywhere in the world
- With AJAX SpaceControl, the remote control with a range of 1200 meters
- With AJAX KeyPad, the interior code control panel

Now choose the system's operating mode, and add it to your shopping basket in the desired color and quantity by clicking on "add". If you plan to use external detection, choose the SpaceControl, not a KeyPad.

Now it's time to decide where you want to detect intruders. Just inside the house, or already outside, in your garden.

In the case of a single-family home with an enclosed garden, we advise you to use mainly outdoor detection. After all, the sooner you know that someone is up to no good, the better.

If you want to secure a single-family home such as a terraced house, often only indoor detection is possible, or a combination of indoor detection with a single outdoor detector for the enclosed garden.

Don't forget that a front door where postal workers can also enter can never be equipped with external detection, so a detector must always be installed inside.

To determine the number of detectors you need indoors, add up the spaces you want to secure.

For indoors, you can choose from the following motion detectors:

MotionProtect: 12-meter range, 90-degree viewing angle
MotionProtect Plus: 12-meter range, 90-degree angle of vision, with integrated radar sensor to cope with open chimneys and windows during alarm activation. In rooms where air conditioning is activated when the alarm is on, choose this version.
CombiProtect: 12-meter range, 90-degree angle of vision, with built-in microphone that detects tinkling glass.
MotionProtect Curtain: 10-meter range, 6-degree angle of vision, for securing very specific areas. For example, along windows, so you can always walk freely in the living room, and detection only takes place close to the windows.
MotionCAM: 12-meter range, 90-degree angle of vision, with built-in camera that sends several images to your cell phone within 9 seconds of recording the movement, so you know who or what is sounding the alarm. This detector is only available in combination with a Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus.

Now select the motion detectors you'd like to have inside. Choose the model, color and number, and add them to your basket by clicking on "add".

In addition to motion detectors, door contacts are also available. These can be mounted on windows and/or doors. If a motion detector has already been selected in the room in question, an additional door sensor is no longer required.

Two different door contacts are available:

• DoorProtect: Detects opening and closing only
• DoorProtect Plus: Also detects vibrations and tilts

Now choose whether and which door contacts you'd like on the inside. Select the color and number, and add them to your basket by clicking on "add".

Before choosing an outdoor motion detector, we first determine whether we also want to buy smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for the home. A fire doesn't happen very often, but if it does, it's often immediately life-threatening. It's advisable to install a smoke detector in every room and, in places where there's a stove/central heating system, a combination with carbon monoxide detection.

AJAX offers standard and combination smoke detectors.

FireProtect: Detects smoke and rapid temperature rise
FireProtect Plus: Also detects carbon monoxide

Choose now if you want smoke detectors and how many you want. Choose the model, color and number, and add them to your basket by clicking "add".

For the elderly, children and people who like to be able to call for help at the touch of a button, the Button is available. A wireless panic button that can quickly alert people to a call for help. As well as getting an alert on all connected phones, it's also possible to activate twin sirens as soon as the button is pressed, to attract the attention of the surrounding area.

The button has a wireless range of 1200 meters from the AJAX Hub (in the open field), so it can be used in the garden and in the immediate vicinity of the house.

Now choose whether you'd like a panic button. Select the color and number, and add them to your basket by clicking "add".

Let's move on to the outdoor products: outdoor motion detectors. This is where the power of AJAX really comes into play, because with a wireless range of 2,000 meters, you can mount these detectors anywhere.

If you already detect unwanted visitors in your garden, a real burglary is avoided. So, if your home allows it, always try to opt for outdoor detection too. Outdoor motion detectors only react to people, not dogs, cats, birds, blowing trees or other plants. (If installed correctly)

The AJAX MotionProtect Outdoor detector can secure an area of up to 15 meters at an angle of 90 degrees. This is approximately 175 square meters. If you place the detector in a corner, it can secure an area of around 13×13 meters. The AJAX MotionProtect Outdoor should always be mounted at a height of between 80 cm and 130 cm.

For a single-family home, this usually means you need 4 of these detectors. Depending on the type of house, you can choose another type of outdoor detector, from the Optex brand, which can be mounted at a different height, or with a different angle of detection. We'll tell you more about this in a moment.

There is no choice of color for MotionProtect Outdoor. Due to the heat of the sun, it is always chosen in white. A black color would be too hot in the sun, and would have a negative effect on detection quality.

To further protect the sensor from sun and rain, the AJAX cover is available. This is an additional protective cover that you can easily slide over the sensor with pre-installed adhesive tape to ensure that no rain falls directly on the sensor.

The advantage is that the anti-mask function can do its job better. This sensor can "see" if something or someone is blocking the image, and this message can then be given incorrectly during rain showers, if no Hood is used.

Now choose whether you want AJAX outdoor sensors and how many you want. Choose the number, and add them to your basket by clicking on "add".

So much for outdoor sensors. Now we've finished deciding which indoor and outdoor detectors we want to detect burglaries.

In addition to burglary and fire detection, AJAX offers a number of other products that help prevent problems or are simply practical. We describe them as follows:

Socket: Plug it into an existing electrical socket so that the connected appliance is automatically switched on or off in time or in the event of an alarm.
LeaksProtect: Detects water, useful for boilers or washing machines.
12 volt voeding: Purchase only if you wish to install the alarm in a motorhome or caravan. By default, the Hub already has a battery backup in case of power failure at home. Do not buy this product if you have 220 volts.
GlassProtect: Interior detector for glass tinkling. Actually, this could be mentioned among the internal detectors, but we think the CombiProtect, a combination of motion detection and glass tinkling, is a better choice. That's why this product gets a final mention.

Now choose if and how many of the above products you want. Choose the number, and if possible the color, and add them to your basket by clicking on "add".

The latest AJAX product is the AJAX WallSwitch. This WallSwitch is similar in function to the AJAX plug, only the WallSwitch is hidden behind the wall socket. The WallSwitch can only be ordered from the AJAX product page.
