Filming in Color at Night
A standard infrared camera produces a black-and-white image at night. It shows that something happened, but not the color of a piece of clothing, a vehicle, or a bag—precisely the details we’re looking to identify afterward.
Hybrid lighting combines infrared and white light, and automatically switches between the two depending on the scene.

The Deterrent Effect of Light
The white light has a second function: it alerts the intruder that they are being filmed. An infrared spotlight is invisible; a light that turns on as someone approaches deters some intruders without setting off an alarm.
